  • The NIPA/ROC Mondriaan International Hospitality Manager/Entrepreneur Program is a unique four-year SBO Level 4 program designed to prepare students for dynamic careers in global hospitality leadership.

    What makes this program stand out is its dual-campus structure:

    • Year 1: Students begin at NIPA in St. Maarten, building a strong foundation in hospitality and customer service while completing local internships and practical training.

    • Years 2 & 3: Students transition to ROC Mondriaan in The Hague, Netherlands. Students gain gain international exposure and advanced instruction in hospitality trends, leadership, and global service standards. nts.

    • Year 4: Students return to St. Maarten for a full-time local internship, bridging global experience with local industry needs. Graduation on St. Maarten.

  • Students are expected to take increasing ownership of their learning and professional development across four years. This includes:

    • Completing preliminary exams in F&B.

    • Completing service assignments, team projects, and internship tasks

    • Upscaling their skillset

    • Applying hospitality leadership principles in real-world environments

  • Students move from basic service competencies to strategic leadership readiness.

    Complexity increases with:

    • Advanced guest relations and cross-cultural communication

    • Team coordination and problem-solving under pressure

    • Exposure to international hospitality protocols and expectations

    • Planning and executing real service events, from concept to delivery

    • Integrating operational knowledge with business and entrepreneurial thinking

  • By the end of year 1, students will have developed the following core competencies:

    • Guest service excellence

    • Front office, food & beverage, and accommodation management introduction

    • Leadership and team collaboration principles

    • Hospitality entrepreneurship and innovation principles

    • Communication in multicultural environments

    • Strategic planning and self-directed learning

    • Event and project coordination

  • Graduates are well-positioned for supervisory or junior management roles in:

    • Hotels and Resorts

    • Airlines and Cruise Lines

    • Tourism Boards and Destination Services

    • Event Management Companies

    • Hospitality Startups

    • International Internships and Trainee Programs

    • Continued education in Applied Science or Business – locally USM or abroad

    • Can also choose to launch their own ventures in boutique hospitality, catering, or guest services.

  • The program blends classroom theory with hands-on simulations, internships, and real-world case studies.

    Students gain experience through:

    • Local internships in St. Maarten (Years 1 & 4)

    • European training at ROC Mondriaan (Years 2 & 3)

    • Weekly service simulations, including bistro operations and event hosting

    • Capstone projects and industry challenges

    • Optional masterclasses, field visits, and guest speaker events

  • To apply, students must:

    • Academic Requirements:

    • Hold a valid Dutch or EU residence permit.

    • Be 18 years or older by the time of departure.

    • Possess a VSBO diploma (PKL/TKL/HAVO/VWO/Academy/St. Dominic/Mac High, etc.)
      OR

    Have successfully completed a Level 2 Cook or Hospitality Assistant program.

    • A minimum of 65% in Mathematics.

    • A passing grade in a second foreign language.

    A score of 70% or higher in English, or a positive result on the Cambridge English Test.

  • Direct application to ROC Mondriaan for this international program is no longer possible. All prospective students must successfully complete the first year at NIPA to be considered for advancement to Years 2 and 3 in the Netherlands.
