The Maritime Assistant program prepares students for careers in St. Maarten’s vibrant boating industry. Gain hands-on skills in boat handling, navigation, sailing, and dinghy driving, plus essential training in marine safety and basic engineering.
Maritime Assistants work under the supervision of captains or senior crew members. They assist with boat operations, maintenance tasks, and passenger safety while following strict maritime protocols.
Tasks range from basic deck duties (line handling, cleaning) to more technical responsibilities (navigation assistance, emergency drills). Assistants must adapt to changing weather conditions and troubleshoot minor engine issues.
